Expert Testimony

Canadian and American law journals have published many of Dr. Cochrane's papers on law-related psychology. His most recent paper was published in The Journal of the New York State Bar Association. His Continuing Legal Education Seminar has been accredited by the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board for six credit hours including one credit hour for ethics. His new e-book, Psychology and the Law: What We Know and What We Know That Isn't So, is based on this seminar and is available at Amazon, Apple Sony, Barnes & Noble, Chapters, Diesel and other e-book outlets.

Subsequently, he maintains a thorough and current awareness of clinical psychology research. He understands research design and the key issues of treatment and assessment validity. This combination of extensive clinical experience, knowledge of the professional literature and a willingness to participate in the legal process, allow him to make valuable contributions in appropriate legal situations.

He has provided assessments, reports and expert testimony on the nature and reliability of memory, on the use and misuse of hypnosis and on the meaning and importance of standarization of assessment tools. He has also provided expert testimony in sexual harassment cases and in murder cases.
